It downloads, and then when it gets to the point where it says, "Preparing Mac OS Big Sur 11.6." and it shows "About 10 minutes remaining" the process seems to stop. I'm having the same problem that I've been having with every OS update, minor or major, for a year at least. I have a 2019 MacBook Pro with an Intel I-7 chip. Unable to update? I am trying to download and install the latest incremental update after OS 11.5.2. I downloaded the DMG file from here: MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.6 What could be causing this? How can I fix this problem? pkg installer, the installer informs me that "the system doesn't support this software", even though I triple checked I downloaded the correct installer. I'm currently running macOS 10.13.6 but this happened with OS X 10.8 and macOS 10.15 too (although with Catalina I was able to boot to the desktop but after a few minutes it would just show a black screen and every time I tried to boot into Windows after that). I read online that updating the firmware to 2.6 would solve the issue since in the changelog it says that the update "resolves an issue with Windows which can prevent MacBook Air from booting properly" among other things, which sounds very similar to the problem I'm having. However, when I reboot after the second part of the setup, Windows boots to a black screen. Hi all, I have a mid 2012 MacBook Air that was given to me some time ago, and until now I didn't have an use for it (my main laptop died so I'm using this), and I'd like to install Windows 7 or 10.
